D33'z News : Just another update

So last weekend was fun, and scored some deals from Stubby's. Something I forgot to mention was that I also picked up a LLAMA Mini-Max .45 from John. It's a nice little 45 that shoots well. They are not "Top Shelf" pistols, but I am one of the few people left in the world that use the logic of, if it feels good, and shoots right, its a good gun. Since the first day I saw that thing at his place I was on the hunt to buy it from him. There is a pic in the image gallery for the pistol.
So some more news on the gun front, John also sold his Mini-14! And yes, I am happy to report it was to Jared (A good friend from work). The money is in the process of changing hands over the weekend. Worst case it can be sorted out Monday, but needless to say I am sure this will be another excellent transaction. John recently sold Jared a Mosin Nagant which Jared shot the night he picked it up until about 10:30pm in his backyard! Yea I love rednecks, that and he has the land to do it.
So today I have an extra hour or so before work, so I am going to try to organize the pics of my guns a little better. That and try to handle that damn image gallery. The size of the pics makes it look like a chimp put it together. Now I am not claiming that I am better than a chimp, but I think I should have another chance before my work is compared to the chimp. I think I could beat one best out of 3 in web development, of course you all are the judge :)
!!UPDATED!!: I think I can say I could beat a chimp! The image gallery went through an overhaul today and seems to be working well. Take a look and let me know. At some point in the near future I will sort out the permission issues that came along with the rebuild. For now, you should be able to few the photos correctly, and I also upgraded the thumbnail generator which is making some high quality thumbs vs the other one that looked like shizzle. So do me a favor and kick the tires on the image gallery, and feedback would be cool if there is an issue. |

D33'z News : Stubby's Stop Over The Weekend
|

Hey All,
This past weekend was interesting. Friday Jon, Brad, and Myself all piled in Brad's Expedition and took a trip to Freedom Armory in York, PA to pick up Brad's new toy. He picked up an EDM Dragonov in .308. We go there about 20mins before closing time (Long drive from Lebanon). The freaking rifle is bad ass. While we were there I was looking around and had my eyes on a couple of items. I was going to pick up a Tec-9 as I used to shoot one when I was younger and don't see them around all the time. I made a comment to the guy like "I'd buy that but I think these guys want to get out of here" and the one guy responded with "Yea.....We would...". Pretty rude comment considering between the 2 guys I am in there with spent $4k in 2 weeks in that shop. That and they would have made another sale.. So I was going to buy a case of 45 ammo, I put case on the counter and waited for one of the 3 guys that were there to ring me up. After waiting for about 10mins, I figured they didn't want my business. I took the case of rounds, set it back and was ready to rock. At this time Brad is getting sorted out with the payment of his new rifle so we start walking out of the building when that was done. While we were walking out we had one of the guys right on heels rushing us out the door. We were pretty much forced out of the parking lot and when I checked the time at the truck, it was 8:00PM on the dot. Pretty screwed up considering the amount of dollars that have just passed hands.
So yea, the next time I go on my $5k spending sprees in a Gun shop, they will NOT be one of them. Screw Freedom Armory, I hate being snubbed/rushed out a door. What ever happened to working for business?
On a good note, I got chance to stop by Stubby's Saturday with nothing but good things to say about the trip. So Saturday I called Brad and Jon and got them to go on a gun shop run all around PA. We first stopped at Encks. Brad picked up some 50 AE ammo, and some 45 carry ammo. I picked some more 45 carry ammo as well, along with a cool ass paddle style mag holder which works great. Then we stopped by Richland, which even though it was a couple mins passed closing they let us come in. I ended up with case of .223 Silver Bear (700rds) for $215. Once that transaction was done we started our burn to Stubby's.
Stubby's was great! We called a head and Stubby told Jon for me to give him a call so I knew what he had in stock. The reason is another guy came in and cleaned him out of a lot of stuff and he didn't want me to have to make a worthless trip. We talked a little bit about what he has, and what I am looking for. So during drive down to Stubby's we stopped at burger king where not only did we score some grub, we got Brad a nice burger king crown which he kept on his head for the entire trip :).
When we got Stubby's we BS'd for a little, then I started figuring out what I wanted. It was 20mins to close, and Stubby had B-day party to go to, yet he took the time to demo a sling for me, follow up on a lead for a 50 BMG for me, and even BS'd with us.
I ended up buying the following: 1x Sling 1x 20" Bull Barrel Upper rdy to rock with bcg and free float tube 1x Springfield 4x14x56mm Govt Issue Scope 1x Flip up rear sight for the AR 3x Boxes of Hornady .45 TAP 230gr HP +P
As always Stubby and I think it is his brother were nothing but NICE and took the time for us. It was nice, considering we took the time to drive down to his shop. So with all of that said, Stubby will be getting a lot more business from me, including some FFL transfers, purchases, and some ordering. He is also seeing what he can find .308 ammo wise so I can't be happier.
Sunday we went shooting, and that's where I have to wrap up the weekend report because I have to roll to work. I will finish this later.
Until then,

Hola,
Well guys Jon, Brad, and myself stopped by Stubby's Saturday. This was my first time to check out the shop and sure enough I spent a little money. As always Stubby and his brother FREAKING ROCKED, and they even took the time to stay open an additional 1/2hr to ensure we got what we needed.
Item list,
Bomb ass sling Springfield 4x14x56mm Govt Issue Scope 20" Stainless Steel Bull Upper with BCG and free float tube
Sunday at the range I shot the new upper with my Nikon Buckmaster that I borrowed from the FAL and was very pleased with the results. While at the range I bought a LLAMA Mini-Max .45 auto from John because I just had to have it.
Here is a pic of the some of the kids all tucked in one the cases for a photo.

D33'z News : General News Update

What a nice gun show Eagle Arms put on last week in Lebanon, PA. It was a hometown show so I had to go regardless of how terrible it could have been. To my delight the show was pretty damn good. A lot of sales/trading/haggling went on and I ended with to much shit. Got to see my buddy's there, and they did alright as well. Except one of the dealers snub Brad which ended up in the dealer losing some sales and as Brad was a sold buyer if the guy would have just given him some words.
So this is what I walked with -------------------------------------------------------------- The AR-Front; As most of you know I sold my S&W AR15 to a buddy a few months ago in order to fund the purchase of my M1A-A1 18" Scout. Well I knew before I sold it, if I did I would be hunting to replace it. I am proud to say it has been replaced with the following.
(01) Bushmaster AR-15 (01) AR-15 collapsable stock cheek piece (05) Used Colt AR 30rd Round mags (10) New USGI 30rd Mags (03) New AR Mags 40rd (1k) American Eagle Tactical 5.56mm rds (15) 20rd boxes of some nice Lake City 5.56mm (300rds total)
--------------------------------------------------------------
-------------------------------------------------------------- Other Rifle Front;
Ok, I had no interest to pick this up but I did because it was just something I had to have. Most of you know I love FALs. I think they are great rifles and look so damn sexy. So with that said I ended up buying a Imbel based FAL that was chopped to 16"s. I must say it just looks like a big ass bulldog. Not to mention when you shoot it, it has just as mean of a bark.
(1) Imbel L1A1 w/ chopped 16" barrel (5) 20rd Metric Mags (1) 500rd case of custom .308 --------------------------------------------------------------
M1A Front; I got this M1A and I absolutely love it. When I first got this thing, I thought I was going to trick it out and make it a 18" SPR (Special Purpose Rifle), basically a tricked little sniper type rifle. Anyways after shooting it for a while I can't bring myself to change it. I love it as is. So with that said I wanted to pick up some mags, and that I did.
(2) 30RD Mags (5) 20RD Mags --------------------------------------------------------------
Misc Scores:
(2) 50 Cal ammo cans (1) Nice US Surplus jacket with liner --------------------------------------------------------------
I got to meet Stubby who has a small gun shop and learned why so many people like dealing with him. One hell of a nice guy with some real fair prices. I strongly recommend buying from him.
So overall the Show was good, and I was a happy boy. I even came in right on budget which was shocking considering I planned to purchase a 50 BMG rifle instead of the FAL or at least a 3rd gun of some sort, but the ammo and mags are what spent some money.
I am currently trying to setup a deal with Pat's Reloading for some resized .308 projectiles. He offered me the price of $79.99 per 1k for orders 2k or more. I don't think he understood I wanted to buy like 10K. So I tried to give them a call today to place the order but no one is at the shop. I will continue to work on this deal as Brad is looking for 2K of them, and a buddy from work is looking for 1k. I want to see if he will go any lower if I buy 13K from him, but its already pretty freaking cheap.
So that's the current update. I also haven't started on the website for JF&G like I thought I would, but I have a feeling it won't take long to build something to make them happy. Should be 1 nights worth of work. /me hopes anyways |
